What is Swing? Trivia lovers know that it is a word imposed by the BBC in the 1930s go replace the American expression 'hot jazz' which was thought to have a sexual connotation!

In France, this new music that 'swung' had a profound impact on the local musical scene in the 1930s. The arrival of American jazz changed the life of many young musicians, light music singers started to sing in a swing mood, bal musette (local dance hall) accordionists created the swing musette style, and Django Reinhardt became DJANGO!

(Jean-Baptiste 'Django' Reinhardt (1910–1953) was born in Belgium into a Manouche family, traveling people that live between France, Germany, Northern Italy, & Belgium.)

One of the hottest styles in world music these days is the blend of traditional Gypsy or Roma, as they prefer to be called), Balkan, and Eastern Europe music with hip-hop and electronic beats. Trendy nightclubs in Berlin, Frankfurt, Prague, and Budapest are filled with frenzied youth dancing to the pulse of brass instruments, violins, and the cimbalom zither! This music is, and always has been, just plain fun!
